Turning 65? NY State will reach out to you about Enchanced STAR

New York State has taken over the Enhanced STAR program for homeowners who are newly turning 65 years old. The State will reach out to homeowners who are eligible, turning 65 in 2026, and had an income below $110,750 in 2024.

Residents no longer can apply for Enhanced STAR with their local Assessor's Office. If you have questions, please call the STAR Credit Hotline at (518) 457-2036. Information also is available online at tax.ny.gov.

Please note: This DOES NOT impact residents who currently receive the STAR or Enhanced STAR benefit. These homeowners will continue to receive their exemptions and do not need to do anything further.
