Planning Board

Duties and Procedures

The Planning Board is responsible for reviewing subdivisions, lot line adjustments, site plans, special use permits, certificates of appropriateness and visual assessments. All submissions to the Planning Board must first be reviewed by the ZEO (Building Department). Once the Planning Board receives a referral from the ZEO, the appropriate Application will be emailed to you, along with the meeting schedule, submission requirements, escrow account requirements, and fees to be paid. Applicants must then submit a completed application form, an EAF Part I (completed using the NYSDEC EAF Mapper), a preliminary sketch plan or plat, a written narrative, escrow agreement and required fees. Approval of an application may require several meetings but the Planning Board can advise you on this. When delivering the signed application, be sure to bring a check or money order for all fees, and a separate check or money order if an escrow account is required. The Planning Board does not accept cash or credit cards.

Schedule

Regular Meeting Date: The fourth Wednesday of the month or the third Wednesday of the month to accommodate the holiday schedule. There is no meeting in August.
Regular Meeting Place: Town Hall, 10 Wamsley Place, Hurley NY (Start at 5:00 PM)
New Applications: Submissions are due three weeks in advance of the next regular meeting.
Additional Materials: Submissions are due two weeks in advance of the next regular meeting.

Board Members

The Planning Board consists of 7 volunteer members who serve 7 year terms and 2 Alternate Members, who serve 1 or 2 year terms. All Members are appointed by the Town Board. The qualifications are you must be over the age of 18 and live in the Town of Hurley. Every effort is made to ensure that all regions of the town are represented by way of the individuals appointed to the Planning Board.
