Hurley Heritage Society has busy 2023 season ahead

The Hurley Heritage Society operates its museum in the Col. Jonathan Elmendorf House at 53 Main St. in Old Hurley (pictured). The museum is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from May 6 to Oct. 29. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

Here’s the Heritage Society’s schedule for the museum’s 2023 season:

  • April 23: Volunteer Training Day
  • April 29: Cleanup Day
  • May 6: Opening days and reception for two new exhibits – “Post Offices of Hurley: 1937 to Present” and “Eagle’s Nest: Exploring the Myths and Reality.”
  • May 19-20: Plant sale pickup (orders placed 1-2 weeks in advance)
  • Sept. 22-23: Mums sale pickup (orders placed 1-2 weeks in advance)
  • Oct. 9 to Nov. 3: Hurley Scarecrow Invasion
  • Oct. 18-29: Autumn Auction

Additionally, the Heritage Society offers walking tours of Old Hurley starting at the museum at 2 p.m. on the fourth Sunday of each month from May to October.

There also are to be events for children that will be posted online at hurleyheritagesociety.org.
