Hudson Valley Water Co. rates to rise, but by much less than proposed
The New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) has authorized Hudson Valley Water Co. to raise its usage rates by about 3%, sharply less than the company's requested hike of more than 20%.
The increase takes effect on June 1, 2023.
Hudson Valley Water Co. serves roughly 435 customers in Ulster County, including about 65 in West Hurley. It also has customers in the towns of Rosendale, Marbletown, Olive and Saugerties.
The West Hurley system uses three wells, a corrosion-control treatment system, two below-ground finished water storage tanks, two booster pumps, and a hydropneumatic tank inside the pump house, according to the PSC.
Hudson Valley Water Co.’s last rate increase, of about 11.5%, took effect on Jan. 1, 2019.
The PSC’s new decision, issued May 19, 2023, can be viewed by clicking here or on the PDF link at the bottom of this announcement.
